Who or what is Kaos?

According to Greek Mythology, before anything existed, the Universe, as we know it today, was empty and void.  It is believed that at some point in time, Kaos came into existence, where before there was nothing.  Pagan  scholars place Kaos as the primordial entity from which all things eventually evolve.  Kaos gave rise to three children, Gaia, Tartus, and  Eros.  Although, there are some factions of Pagan proselytes who believe that Eros a son of Zeus, and therefore not a primordial.
